Therapy Times
Your child is scheduled for a
set time each week for speech and language therapy services, as noted as part
of his/her Individual Education Plan (IEP). In the past, when there has
been a school or class special event, a student-or group of
students-have not always been seen for therapy. The classroom
teacher may ask to not send the student on a particular day due to unique
classroom activities or possibly a student’s behavioral issues. With such
a full schedule, it is not always possible to make up the therapy session if
the student or teacher asks to miss a session. If you feel that speech
therapy services should occur at the regular therapy time, even if there is a
special class event, please let me know in writing what your wishes are.
If I haven’t received written parental input, I will respect the wishes of the classroom
teacher when they request that your child miss therapy.
