Homework Grading:
Each piece of homework turned in will receive two different number grades. The number on the left indicates if the homework was turned in on time. A “4” equals on time and a “2” equals late. The number on the right is the academic grade, telling you how well your child did on the assignment. Your child can earn a “1-4.”
I have decided to put the two separate grades on the homework assignments so that you know how often your child is turning work in late and how well he or she is doing on the work. The homework is due first thing in the morning. If it is not turned in then it is an automatic “2.” even if it is turned in later the same day.
Planner Signatures and Stickers:
Your child is responsible for reading 20 minutes every Monday through Thursday. To get credit for reading he or she needs to get a signature from a parent or responsible adult who has seen them read. The signature is due, in the planner, the next day.
On Friday students are responsible for getting a signature from a parent. Before the parent signs the planner, he or she should look the planner over to see if their child turned any work in late, is missing any work, and how their behavior was that week.
When a student does not turn in a homework assignment I circle the assignment in the planner. After the student has turned it in I initial the assignment. To check for behavior for the week, look to see if your child has earned a star sticker. If he or she has, they have not gone beyond green or yellow on the Behavior Chart. The circle sticker means they have turned in all of their homework on time for the week. The Friday Signature is on Monday and counts for the next weeks circle sticker.
